Merle Haggard Hospitalized With Pneumonia, Cancels Shows

Merle Haggard is hoping to be released in a few days from the hospital where he was admitted earlier this week to be treated for pneumonia, which forced the celebrated country singer and songwriter to postpone seven shows in several states, his spokeswoman said Thursday.

Merle Ronald Haggard (born April 6, 1937, 74 years old) is an American country music singer, guitarist, fiddler, instrumentalist, and songwriter. Along with Buck Owens, Haggard and his band The Strangers helped create the Bakersfield sound, which is characterized by the unique twang of Fender Telecaster guitars, vocal harmonies, and a rough edge not heard on the more polished Nashville Sound recordings of the same era.

NEW YORK — Nick Cannon is spending the first week of the new year in the hospital, with wife Mariah Carey by his side.

Carey tweeted that Cannon is suffering from “mild kidney failure.” His representative confirmed Cannon’s hospitalization. He is in Aspen, Colo., where he and Carey were vacationing.

Robin Gibb Liver Cancer – Robin Gibb, member of the music group Bee Gees, has liver cancer, a family friend confirmed Sunday.

The 61 year old was rushed to the hospital last Tuesday after a 911 call from his mansion home in Oxfordshire, central England, but allowed home after a few hours, the Sunday Mirror reported.
