Eddie Fisher is the father of actress Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia from Star Wars)

Edwin Jack "Eddie" Fisher (August 10, 1928 – September 22, 2010) was an American singer and entertainer, who was one of the world’s most famous and successful singers in the 1950s, selling millions of records and having his own TV show. He has the distinction of having been married to Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, and Connie Stevens. His divorce from his first wife, Debbie Reynolds, to marry his best friend’s widow, Elizabeth Taylor, garnered scandalously unwelcome publicity at the time.

Fisher has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for Recording, at 6241 Hollywood Boulevard, and one for TV, at 1724 Vine Street.

Grace Bradley (September 21, 1913 – September 21, 2010) was a film actress who was active in Hollywood during the 1930s.

Although she actually made one film in 1932 her real film career did not begin until 1933 when she starred in a lead role in the film Too Much Harmony (1933). She was under contract to Paramount Pictures beginning in 1933 and she reportedly had a take home of $150 per week.. In the 1930s she became one of the periods most popular musical stars and her other screen credits include parts in Girl Without a Room (1933), The Cat’s Paw (1934), Anything Goes (1936), Wake Up and Live (1937), Larceney on the Air (1937), and The Big Broadcast of 1938.

During her career she co-starred opposite such notable figures as Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour, Alice Faye, Bruce Cabot, William Bendix, Fred MacMurray, Harold Lloyd and W.C. Fields. In May 1937, Bradley submitted to a blind date and met Hopalong Cassidy star William Boyd and the two of them hit it off so well that they were wed in June 1937

Grace Bradley Boyd died on her 97th birthday; Tuesday, September 21, 2010. She left no survivors. On Thursday, September 23, 2010 private services were held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA. She was interred with her husband there in the Great Mausoleum, Sactuary of Sacred Promise

Kenny McKinley (January 31, 1987 – September 20, 2010) was an American football wide receiver for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Broncos in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at South Carolina.

McKinley was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round, 5th pick (141st overall) during the 2009 NFL Draft. McKinley played in eight games in 2009 as a kick returner. He returned seven kicks for a total of 158 yards. He also recorded 3 special teams tackles.

He was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury on December 28, 2009.

McKinley was found dead on September 20, 2010, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death was reported as a suicide by local media, and later confirmed by members of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office. He was found in the second floor master bedroom of his home.

Forby Leonard Skinner (January 11, 1933 – September 20, 2010) was an American high school gym teacher, basketball coach, realtor and bar owner from Jacksonville, Florida. He gained fame in the 1970s as the namesake of the influential Southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

On September 20, 2010, Skinner died at a nursing home in Jacksonville, at age 77 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. At the time of his death, The New York Times called him "arguably the most influential high school gym teacher in American popular culture." The Florida Times-Union  called him "the no-nonsense, flattopped basketball coach and gym teacher whose name is forever linked with Jacksonville’s legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd."

The name "Leonard Skinner" also appears (by coincidence) in the lyrics of Allan Sherman’s "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" (1963). Skinner was one of a number of Sherman’s camp bunkmates at Camp Granada who suffered from some calamity during the course of the song.

Harold V. Goldstein (December 10, 1923 – September 11, 2010), best known by his stage name Harold Gould, was an American actor best known for playing Martin Morgenstern in the 1970s sitcoms Rhoda and The Mary Tyler Moore Show and as Miles Webber on The Golden Girls. Gould acted in film and television for nearly 50 years, appearing in more than 300 television shows, 20 major motion pictures, and over 100 stage plays, and received Emmy Award nominations five times. He is known for playing elegant, well-dressed men, and he regularly played Jewish characters and grandfather-type figures on television and film

Gould worked steadily in television in the 1960s and early 1970s, including roles in Dennis the Menace, Dr. Kildare, Hazel, The Twilight Zone, Get Smart, Hogan’s Heroes, The F.B.I., The Big Valley, Cannon and Mission: Impossible.

Gould played Miles Webber, the steadfast boyfriend of Rose Nylund (Betty White) on the NBC series The Golden Girls  (he also played a different boyfriend of Rose’s named Arnie in the show’s first season). He portrayed the father of a villain called The Prankster on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and made guest appearances on television series such as Felicity, The King of Queens, Touched by an Angel, and Judging Amy. Gould’s film roles in the 1990s and 2000s include appearances in Stuart Little, Patch Adams, Master of Disguise, the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday, Nobody’s Perfect, and Whisper of the Heart.

Gould lived in Los Angeles with his wife, Lea. Harold Gould died from prostate cancer on September 11, 2010. He is survived by two sons, Joshua and Lowell, and a daughter, Deborah.  Harold Gould was 86 years old at the time of his death.

Kevin McCarthy (February 15, 1914 – September 11, 2010) was an American stage, film, and television actor. McCarthy has appeared in over two hundred television and film roles. For his role in the 1951 film version of Death of a Salesman, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and won a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actor.

He graduated from Campion High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in 1932 and attended the University of Minnesota where he participated in his first play Henry IV, Part 1 and discovered a love of acting.

Richard Burton "Rich" Cronin (August 30, 1975 – September 8, 2010) was an American singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer and primary songwriter for the pop group Lyte Funky Ones or LFO.

Cronin was the founding member of the pop group LFO. The group’s breakout hit "Summer Girls", was written by Cronin in 1999, hit #3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart for six weeks. The single also went platinum in the US with sales of over 1,000,000 units. The group disbanded in 2002.

Illness and death of Rich Cronin
In March 2005, Cronin went to the hospital after suffering from constant headaches. He was diagnosed with a form of leukemia known as acute myelogenous leukemia. He was given chemotherapy at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. In January 2006 he went into remission. He started his own foundation called the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to raise awareness about the deadly disease; making it his mission to educate people about the urgent need for donating blood, and even more so, bone marrow.

In the summer of 2010, his condition worsened, and he was admitted for further treatment at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. On the afternoon of September 8, 2010, Rich Cronin died in the hospital after suffering a stroke, at the age of 35.

* Glenn Shadix was NOT the ghost from Beetlejuice.  Glenn Shadix was the interior designer in that movie.  He was also Jerry’s landlord from Seinfeld.

Glenn Shadix (April 15, 1952 – September 7, 2010) was an American actor, known for his role as “Otho” in Tim Burton’s horror/comedy film Beetlejuice.

Death of Glenn Shadix
On September 7, 2010, Shadix accidentally fell at his condo in Birmingham, Alabama and died of blunt force trauma to his head. Shadix had mobility problems and was in a wheelchair.

Jefferson Thomas, one of the so-called "Little Rock Nine," the nine students who integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957, has died, according to Carlotta Walls LaNier, president of the group’s foundation. He was 67.

Thomas died of pancreatic cancer on Sunday

As a 15-year-old, Thomas was one of the nine African-American students who braved segregationist mobs to integrate the all-white school under the protection of military forces.

The Little Rock Nine was a group of African-American students who were enrolled in Little Rock Central High School in 1957. The ensuing Little Rock Crisis, in which the students were initially prevented from entering the racially segregated school by Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus, and then attended after the intervention of President Eisenhower, is considered to be one of the most important events in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. On their first day of school, guards at the school would not let them in and they were followed by mobs making threats to lynch.

The U.S. Supreme Court issued its historic Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, 347 U.S. 483, on May 17, 1954. The decision declared all laws establishing segregated schools to be unconstitutional, and it called for the desegregation of all schools throughout the nation.
