I have to limit it to music and then to those who died way too soon. All my choices are based on being artists extraordinary beyond mere fame. Two major stars who self-destroyed their careers long before they died- The once amazing Michael Jackson and of course Elvis, who should have ruled rock and roll for years but was ruined by Tom Parker, don’t make my list. I greatly respect who they were them when they were at their peak and regret they weren’t the true stars they should have still been when they died – instead of the late night TV jokes that all too many people consider they became. That said my 5+ picks (one of whom was a victim of undiagnosed schizophrenia pushed over the edge by LSD and withdrew - so he doesn’t fit with Elvis and Michael) have to be: John Lennon George Harrison Syd Barrett Joe Strummer Arthur Lee Warren Zevon Nick Drake Jimmie Hendrix Tim Buckley Jeff Buckley Keith Relf Marc Bolan Steve Marriott Johnny Cash Gerry Garcia Keith Moon Janis Joplin Jim Morrison Roy Orbison Buddy Hollly Tim Hardin Gram Parsons Otis Redding Ian Drury Zappa And way too many more people I will kick myself for overlooking - some Giants and many of the lesser known but all these artists leave an ache for what should have been created! I will be 20 come June but old actors/actress are my favorite. There is just something about them that is timeless and more talented than the majority of actors today. This is so hard to decide.
