well, I dont understand US criminal law, so not sure how it works there, but there are different types of homicide, and it is an intention only crime. You have to intend for someone to die for it to be murder. As the doctor did not force him to take the pills or intend for him to die, surely the charge should be manslaughter? And some kind of professional negligence charge on the "doctor prescribing things he shouldnt" kind of area????
How can that be murder? Just cos MJ was famous and loads of people loved him, doesnt make it any more murder! If it happened to some regular Joe Bloggs bet it wouldnt be murder.

The Dr gets paid the ridiculous amount of money he does because he has a degree and knows what the consequences are if he does something that's morally wrong. Doctors know the Hypocratic Oath and are supposed to stick to it and protect their patients.
He should absolutely be charged with murder because he went about this whole situation knowing what could happen in any situation with the drugs he gave MJ. He killed MJ whether anyone likes it or not.
The only way it could have been manslaughter would be if he didn't
know the consequences of what would happen if he gave MJ the drug.
Since he was fully aware of what could happen, he willingly participated in giving the drug and therefore, committed murder.
Manslaughter happens when there is an accident and no planning of anything.

Doctors are not supposed to dispense medication simply because the patient asked for it. There needs to be a medical necessity. Hence, the murder charges.

I never even knew that MJ was murdered. O knew he died, but not murdered.
At least after all this time there will be someone held at court for killing MJ. I can't believe he was forced to take drugs! Poor thing!
My question is- was he forced to take them, or did he agree to take them?? Because if he agreed to take the drugs, then Dr Conrad Murray would not be as guilty as he would be if he acctually forced MJ to take the drugs. He should have known better. Did he want MJ to die??
Well, one things for certain. He is dead, but we will never forget! RIP, King of Pop!

Seriously?!!! How in the hell could the Dr "accidentally" force him to take anything? Michael Jackson may have been the King of Pop but it's well known that he used his celebrity to get all kinds of drugs (a lot weren't even in his name, btw) whenever he wanted them. The sad thing is that no one had the guts to stand up to MJ and say "NO, you aren't going to do this to yourself". I know that's easier said than done but it's happened. There should have been an intervention years ago and maybe he would be here today.
Of course, the Dr should have had some kind of conscience and not given MJ a drug that should only be taken under surgical situations, not just to fall asleep because of exhaustion. It's a horrible tragedy not only for his family but his fans too.

I didn't realize that the doctor forced MJ, the grown adult, to take the drugs. Poor MJ, being forced to take drugs. MJ was an adult wasn't he? I would assume that he would know what was right and wrong and illegal. Yes, definitely blame someone else for MJ's obvious problems.

NOBODY forced MJ to take anything. He asked for the drugs to help him sleep because he had a lot of trouble sleeping and no matter what he tried, nothing worked so he asked for the Propofol to put him to sleep and the Dr did it. The Dr knew better but he did it anyway!!
MJ did have problems but no one stepped up and tried to help him, they just did what he asked and NEVER said no to him.
I was there when the whole thing happened so try to get the facts before you assume anything.

it's about time.. i hadnt heard anything on this in a while... i was wondering what the status was of this case. Thankfully, someone will be held accountable for MJ's death. This doctor did not act in the best interest of MJ while in his care. I will be watching and waiting for more detailed info to come.
