One of Britain's most-loved comic actors Eric Sykes, described as the 'gentleman of comedy' has died today at the age of 89.
Long,lean,dark, mournful-looking British comedian and comic actor who began as a scriptwriter for radio comedy programmes had some interesting leading roles at the beginning of the sixties,then settled down to stealing scenes in all-star comedies, and to working on his own long-running television show in partnership with Hattie Jacques (1924-1980)
