The cause of Zhitomirskiy's death in San Francisco wasn't immediately known, and neither the company nor the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office would release details.

Diaspora originally was meant to be a type of social network that addressed its users privacy concerns far more effectively than Facebook. It's up and I think there's a waiting list, as one has to be invited to join. It's certainly doesn't have the numbers FB has at this point.

It's a great principle and anyone attempting this is to be admired IMHO. RIP Ilya.
