Lawrence Taylor (one of the greatest NFL players) was arrested for having sex with a 16-year-old girl. He was charged with felony third-degree statutory rape, for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with someone under 17. He was also charged with third-degree patronization for allegedly paying the underage girl $300 to have sex with him. His bail was set at $75,000. Taylor is facing up to five years in prison and lifetime sex offender registration if convicted of both crimes. On June 23, 2010, Taylor was indicted on these charges, and pleaded not guilty on July 13. On January 13, 2011 Taylor pleaded guilty to some of the charges thereby resolving the case. On March 22, 2011 Taylor was sentenced to six years probation as part of a plea agreement, which saw him plead guilty to the misdemeanors of sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute.
He will also have to register as a sex offender.
