Gwyllyn Samuel Newton "Glenn" Ford (May 1, 1916 – August 30, 2006) was an acclaimed Canadian-born actor from Hollywood's Golden Era with a career that spanned seven decades. Ford was a versatile actor best known for playing either cowboys or ordinary men in unusual circumstances.

Early life and career
He was born to Anglo-Quebecer parents at Jeffrey Hale Hospital in Quebec City, Quebec and was a great-nephew of Canada's first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald. Ford moved to Santa Monica, California with his family at the age of eight, and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1939.

Re: Glenn Ford - MEGA star, The original 3:10 to Yuma
As a child, there were movies I would go to simply based upon my favorite actors. Glenn Ford was one of them. I recently saw listed on cable Fastest Gun Alive and Blackboard Jungle. Also, Cowboy, which had two of my all time favorites, Glenn Ford and Jack Lemon. I think I liked them because they often played an ordinary good guy in movies with happy endings. Some things have changed, but I'm still a sucker for happy endings.
