This is my top 10 famous celebrity deaths in Hollywood - 2009
I came up with the list by considering three factors: 1) How much I like them personally, 2) How much they contributed to entertainment industry, 3) Shock value.
So, you are likely to disagree with me. But it's OK. Feel free to share your opinion.

Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
I feel sorry for you Jackson was top Frank Sinatra was great also
but lets not forget 20 years out of his six decades wasn`t special
he was a crooner he didn`t break any grounds or d anything special
for the world. Lets not forget that when Frank was big teenagers
kids would rather listen to the Beattles or Elvis, he was just great at crooning thats it..
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
When Sinatra had teenage followers, I don't believe that any of the Beatles were born. Elvis did not appear on the scene untill the 50's. So everyone can and will have a different top 10 that depends on their life experiences and not yours.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
God I miss you Michael Jackson, I listen to your music every day. I'll never forget you...
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
you forgot Natasha Richardson, who's work is more prolific than Billy Mays
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Prolific?
Prolific?
I still see Billy Mays many times a day on TV.
Last time I watched Natasha Richardson was 3-4 years ago.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
What about Heath ledger??
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Heath Ledger died in January 2008. It's been over 2 years.
You must be an older person (like me), haha... time flies.
2 years flew by. Just like that.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
I can't believe Brittany Murphy has passed away!! OMG, that was a HUGE shocker!!! I really looked up to her, this is terrible. She was extremely talented and so very beautiful. Atleast she left us with the memory of some of the Best movies I have ever seen. RIP Brittany, We will adore you forever!!
Trisha Rica
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
I think Roy E. Disney (Walt Disney's Nephew) should have been included somewhere in the top 10.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
I'd stack a 5-decade singer of the caliber of Al Martino all over some voice-over for a cartoon-- like dooood man like "guest" man-- like where you been all these years!
Oh the brashness of youth-- get a clue yungun-- this world didn't begin with your birth!
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood

Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
What about Natasha Richardson? And Ted Kennedy death is very notable in 2009 but on a list of "Hollywood" deaths?
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
how about gale storm ??? she starred in 2 long running t.v.shows in the 1950s and had a very good singing career...also was the spokesperson for raleigh hills for substance abuse in the 1960s when most celebs didnt dare..
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
WTF, al Martino!
Who the hell is Al Martino?
No offense dude, but your list is totally off.
Here is a much more accurate and fair list...
1.) Michael Jackson 50
2.) Patrick Swayze 57
3.) Farrah Fawcett 62
4.) Brittany Murphy 32
5.) David Carradine 72
6.) Ted Kennedy 77
7.) Walter Cronkite 92
8.) Ed McMahon 86
9.) Karl Malden 97
10.) Jennifer Jones 90
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Al Martino was a singer. He sang for over 5 decades.
Ironically, I didn't know the name "Brittany Murphy"
We may have age gap :)
Thank you for your list
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Perhaps there is an age difference between the two of you and as your lists are very similar I must add that every single person on both lists do deserve the acknowledegment and greatfulness of the millions of people that they have touched in this world and perhaps changed a few lives for the better in their persuit to entertain us. I will however miss Brittany Murphy the most as I enjoyed her films very much. She was a beautiful young actress that had such a talent to make you laugh, smile, and be happy. She will be missed dearly.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
This is not "Teen Beat" magazine
I cannot give somebody more credit because he/she was popular among teens.
I was simply comparing 50 years of work vs. 20 years of work.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
I think this person knows exactly what she's talking about. She is right, everyone should be recognized, no matter how old they are. They all gave something to different people of different ages, and every one of them deserve the love and sorrow from their fans.
Good job, I really liked your comment you left about the list. :)
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Well said and thank you
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Al Martino (not "Matino") was 82 when he died, and had been out of the spotlight for years. He played Johnny Fontaine in The Godfather movies. So I don't know that he qualifies for shock value or relative fame compared to Brittany Murphy.
Recent death
Avenged Sevenfold's 28 year old drummer died on December 28,
at age 28 there is a huge shock value if you ask me
Re: Recent death
28 is shocking. That also means he had a very short career.
The thing is... most people don't know Avenged Sevenfold.
Ask your parents, boss, or your school teacher.
I have never heard of Avenged Sevenfold until the drummer passed.
Michael Jackson was the best artist that ever was!
Michael Jackson was the best artist there ever was, He will be truly missed by all his fans and the music business as well
No one will ever come close to Michael Jackson. He will always remain the King of Pop no matter that He is no long here on this Earth.
Re: Michael Jackson was the best artist that ever was!
I agree i cant believe these stupid people care about these other stinkin people except for michael jackson like i know right!!!! omg i cant believe it he was like the best!!!! i miss him so much!
Re: Michael Jackson was the best artist that ever was!
he was good i'll grant you that. i too was a fan when i was in grade school and im 38 today still listening to his music, but it is no surprise and really they (media) made it out to be a bigger tragedy than what it was.i wll miss Patrick swayze more.
Re: Michael Jackson was the best artist that ever was!
Not sure if "ever was" is appropriate here... Yes talented, like the likes of Sammy Davis, or odd like Liberace and sorta strange like Tiny Tim....but through all that he will surely be remembered for his dozen or so hits that will be everlasting. David.
Re: Michael Jackson was the best artist that ever was!
Apparently this person is too young or too ill-informed about Frank Sinatra. His career in top
hits, his movies , and numerous stage performance from his teen age to his late seventies puts him far elevated above this simplistic hop around Jackson. He was a star for 6 decades and his music will last beyond the Jackson five.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Brittany Murphy was a HUGE SHOCK! (32 yrs old!!)
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
plus the shock value for Brittany Murphy was pretty high
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Brittany Murphy should also be up there in the list...I loved her movies and she was very cute.
Re: 2009 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood
Ted Kennedy was the Lion of the senate, passing more legislation, effectively contributing to policy way beyond JFK & RFK, doing what they did and beyond in the Senate.
