2008 top 10 famous deaths in Hollywood

No one has mentioned the loss of actor Jeff MacKay (10.20.1948-8.22.2008), who passed away of liver failure. He was best known as "Mac" on TV's Magnum P.I. and as mechanic Corky on TV's Tales Of the Gold Monkey. He has been credited for a number of guest appearances and starred in the 2008 film December.

I think Heath Ledger was also great in the "Patriot" as far as self destructing I agree,but it is human especially in the 20's it happened to me when I lost my family I think he poured himself into the Joker role and he should be commended for that,after all it is rare that we get to see the end result of someones life played out on film.....it is sad.

Also he self destructed and I take points off for that. The goal in my opinion is not to die young but live long. (let this be a lesson drugs kill and stay close to your family.) ** Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother murdered (not to mention the kid) is high on the tragic scale but trivial in the scheme of humanity and celebrity. I would consider the following 6 to fill in the top 10: George Carlin (changed comedy, classic) Suzanne Pleshette (beauty, wit, humor, charm and sexy voice) Roy Scheider (all that jazz and lead in Jaws, a classic) Cyd Charisse (sexy woman, golden age cinema danced and acted) Timothy John Russert (beloved fair smart respected political pundit) Bo Diddley (famous musician, influenced & copied by many others) These had more affect on our collective culture, conscience, life and made more impact in my opinion.
