Christopher Michael Benoit (May 21, 1967 – June 24, 2007) was a Canadian professional wrestler who wrestled for Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Benoit ascended to the top of his profession, holding the World heavyweight championship in both WCW and WWE, becoming one of the most popular and respected competitors in professional wrestling in the process.
Chris Benoit's Death
On June 25, 2007, Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were found dead in their Fayetteville, Georgia, home at around 2:30 p.m. EDT. Lieutenant Tommy Pope of the Fayette County, Georgia Sheriff's Department reported to ABC News that police entered Benoit's home on a "welfare check" after several missed appointments, leading to concerns. Pope also stated the police were not searching for any suspects outside of the house, as the instruments of death were located at the scene of the crime.
Detective Bo Turner of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told television station WAGA-TV that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide. The station reported that investigators believe that Benoit murdered his wife and son over the weekend and hanged himself sometime on Monday.

Re: Chris Benoit - Pro Wrestler
Drugs or not, Chris was and always will be a legend.
Look back, think of all the great matches. Chris Benoit was in most.
Don't judge him from his personal life. Fans knew him in the ring. The Wolverine, nothing more.
In the WWE world, he IS a legend. They may not accept it but it's true. WWE would fucking suck if it weren't for Chris stepping it up.
Don't deny it. You all know it's true.
R.I.P Chris <3

Re: Chris Benoit - Pro Wrestler
He was a great wrestler, he had a certain ability to him, that he could entertain everybody and anybody that he was to come into contact with. When ever he was there to perform, he would do his best and you would never ever be more entertain than you were when Chris Benoit, was there to perform in front of you, and you would be very, very happy and know that you spent your money wisely.
However, he was a dick, he betrayed his fans, and he never will be viewed as a legend.
In my view Chris Benoit, should never ever be put into the WWE or Any other Wrestling Hall Of Fame
Re: Chris Benoit - Pro Wrestler
I beg to differ with you about benoit. Yes he was an awesome performer in the ring his technical skills pretty much surpassed many of his co workers. I hate what he did to his wife and to his child, and even to himself suicide is a type of murder so he committed 3 murders that fateful weekend. I was not a huge fan of his by far in the ring but being an ex-wrestler myself and a huge fan of todays sports entertainment show I have to give credit where credit is due. The man had skills that many wrestlers would die to have, he had personal problems outside the ring and in my opinion he should still be allowed to be in the hall of fame. If you look at wrestlers of today look at Big Show ( paul wight ) he was arrested for sexual assult. Ric flair was arrested for road rage. Jeff Hardy arrested for drugs, along with many others. You have many in the wwe hall of fame that have committed crimes from minor ones to major ones. Stone Cold arrested for assulting his former wife. So they should honestly allow Benoit in the wwe hall of fame for his contributions in the ring. This is my opinion and opinions are like a$$holes everbody has one.
Re: Chris Benoit - Pro Wrestler
To anyone who did not follow the events afterward, Chris Nowinski (Winner of a competition to become a pro wrestler) had Benoit's brain tissue tested after his suicide. He effectively had the brain of an 85 year-old Alzheimer's patient, after years of concussions and steroid abuse.
He used to be someone I respected, but that week was one of the craziest and saddest in wrestling history. I still find it hard to believe that none of his co-workers saw it coming.
