Steve Wynn suffers from the degenerative eye disease retinitis pigmentosa (RP), which cripples night vision and reduces visual ability in the periphery until the sufferer essentially has "tunnel vision." Many people with RP eventually become legally blind.

In an accident witnessed by a group that included Barbara Walters, Wynn accidentally poked a hole in Picasso's 74-year-old painting, "Le Reve," French for "The Dream", valued $139 million.

Gary Coleman is said to be doing well after an unexpected trip to a Los Angeles-area hospital.

The 41-year-old former Diff'rent Strokes star was staying at the boutique Custom Hotel when he suddenly fell ill around 8 a.m. and an ambulance was called.

But Coleman's agent is assuring fans there's nothing to worry about.

Coleman had a seizure.

Rush Limbaugh Hospitalized in Serious Condition

On December 30, 2009, Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital with chest pains. Paramedics treated him on-site and then transported him to Queen's Medical Center, where he was admitted in serious condition

Bryant Gumbel Says He's Recovering From Lung Cancer

On December 8, 2009, Bryant Gumbel announced that he had cancer surgery two months earlier to remove a malignant tumor on his lung. The announcement came on "Live! with Regis and Kelly," with Gumbel filling in for Regis Philbin, who recently underwent successful hip replacement surgery.

Singer of Weezer Hospitalized After Bus Crash

On December 6, 2009, a bus with passengers including Cuomo, his wife, his daughter, and his assistant crashed in to a ditch on New York State Thruway due to inclement weather. Cuomo suffered rib injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His assistant sustained minor injuries, but his wife and daughter were not harmed.

Tiger Woods seriously hurt in crash

On November 27, 2009, Woods was taken to hospital after an early morning car accident near his home, reportedly in "serious" condition. He had driven his SUV into a tree and a fire hydrant. The Florida Highway Patrol said that the crash was not alcohol-related, but that charges were pending. Woods was released from Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida in good condition; his agent said that Woods was fine, and had been treated for facial lacerations.

Tiger was trapped in his SUV that his wife had to break the rear window with a golf club to take him out.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, NBA Great, Diagnosed With Leukemia

In November 2009 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar announced that he was suffering from a rare form of leukemia, Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow that produces cancerous blood cells. The disease was diagnosed in December 2008, but Abdul-Jabbar said his condition can be managed by taking oral medication daily, seeing his specialist every other month and getting his blood analyzed regularly. He said he expects to lead a healthy life

Actor Dennis Hopper diagnosed with prostate cancer

On October 29, 2009, Hopper's manager reported that Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He is undergoing treatment and movie plans have been canceled.

Hopper, 73, was reportedly brought into an unidentified Manhattan hospital by an ambulance Monday wearing an oxygen mask and “with numerous tubes visible.” On October 2, 2009, he was discharged, after receiving treatment for dehydration.

Hopper, 73, was reportedly brought into an unidentified Manhattan hospital by an ambulance Monday wearing an oxygen mask and “with numerous tubes visible.” The disease is thought to be an "extreme case of swine flu," brought on by his age and other underlying health issues, according to an unnamed source close to Hopper.

On March 3, 2009, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" actress Mariska Hargitay was hospitalized after suffering chest pains. It was disclosed that she would probably need more surgery.

On March 4, 2009, former first lady Barbara Bush had undergone aortic valve replacement surgery.  She is reportedly recovered and doing well. She is expected to remain hospitalized for up to 10 days.

On March 4, 2009, it was revealed that comedian Robin Williams was hospitalized due to heart issues. He is "currently in the intensive care unit at a Miami hospital with heart issues."

Celebrity Fashion Critic Mr. Blackwell Hospitalized

Richard Blackwell (AKA Mr. Blackwell), 85, has been in the hospital and unconscious since Tuesday, his partner, Robert Spencer, said from his home in Los Angeles. He is suffering from septic shock and is being treated with antibiotics. Doctors say his condition is stable.
