Ruth Ann Steinhagen (December 23, 1929 – December 29, 2012) was an American woman who shot and nearly killed Eddie Waitkus, star first baseman of the Philadelphia Phillies, on June 14, 1949 in one of the first instances of what later became known as stalker crimes. The incident is one of the inspirations for the 1952 baseball book The Natural, made into a film in 1984 (starring Robert Redford)

On 14 February 2013, reports surfaced that a woman had been shot and killed at Pistorius's Pretoria home, with one police spokesman reportedly stating the woman was Reeva Steenkamp, Pistorius's girlfriend. Johannesburg's Talk Radio 702 told Sky News that police had arrested a 26-year-old man believed to be Pistorius on suspicion of murder and a 9mm pistol was recovered from the scene. Police have confirmed that Pistorius has been charged with Steenkamp's murder. Reports have also suggested that Pistorius will undergo forensic medical tests at The Mamelodi Day Hospital. Reports have stated that police officials are set to oppose bail for Pistorius.
Some early media reports indicated that the shooting may have been an accident caused by Pistorius mistaking his girlfriend for an intruder. A police spokeswoman stated that those reports did not come from the police. The spokeswoman also stated that earlier in the evening the neighbors heard "shouting and screaming" coming from Pistorius' house and that the police were called to the house on some previous occasions responding to reports of "a domestic nature"

On August 7, 2012, police in Grayson County, Texas responded to a call that a man was lying naked in the road. Police reported that they arrived to find Randy Travis naked and smelling of alcohol. Police say that Travis crashed his car in a construction zone, and that when they attempted to apprehend him, Travis threatened the lives of the officers. Travis was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated and retaliation against law enforcement officials. He posted bail in the amount of $21,500. Because this incident happened in a different county, his probation was not considered violated.
On February 6, 2012 Travis was arrested for public intoxication while sitting in his car at a Baptist church in Sanger, Texas. He paid a fine and was placed on a 90-day probation. The 90-day probation period expires September 23, 2012.
